Are You My Soul Sister?
You are an Artist, Indie-maker, or Designer that lives a creative bohemian lifestyle.
You are the embodiment of playfulness and may even catch national attention as a trendsetter for your bold, colorful interior.
Your style is maximal, layered, warm and always inviting. You fearlessly use color and pattern while creating the dreamscape setting you call home.
You scour worldwide estate sales, garage sales, and flea markets, and you find hunting for obscure furniture therapeutic.
But lately your resources are drying up. Your furniture needs a serious revamp or maybe you just feel starved for some new ideas.
The DIY Struggle
Vintage has gotten so pricey these days, and you’re sick of passing up those gorgeous chairs with the torn and tired upholstery.
You love nothing more than a roadside score and you buy good vintage anywhere you can get it.
You wish you had the resources to revamp like the artisan pieces you drool over on Pinterest and Instagram.
You might have a go-to upholster for times like these, but you wish they were more inventive.
You’d be happy to feed your “go to guy” some fresh ideas or even take matters into your own hands with some added skills, but up until now, nobody has offered you designer DIY inspiration.
I totally get it. I’ve been there too, my sisters from another mister.
I had the same frustrations when I started out. I could spot something interesting from a mile away…
But I had no idea how to revamp all those ugly ducks that were screaming to be swans.
So, I started out in the design industry in a very personal and organic way in search of creating something authentic that didn’t exist yet.
The Birth of Vintage Renewal
Vintage Renewal was born in 2007. Within the first year and half of opening my business, I got on the Indie design blog radar (Yes, I said 2007).
By the second year, I stepped it up to newspapers and a “Rising Star” Interior Design award.
I finished up year three with a feature every month. From the magazine loved by Indie Designers (Readymade) to the magazine loved by Flea Marketeers (Flea Market Decor). One magazine feature after the next and all served up with a serious side of awesome sauce.
At year four, I kicked off a national tour of my Artist Loft, along a feature in a book debut.
By this point, I managed to escalate my clientele (and press) from Indie fans to a luxury audience (Luxe Magazine) along with my first museum collaboration (Denver Art Museum).
Creating an organic Design Education
All the while I spent those first years completing certificates in advanced upholstery, interior decorating, fashion sewing and pattern drafting while working at a high-end antique showroom in Denver (which excitingly exposed me to some celebrity clients and a sophisticated design audience).
At the same time, I immersed myself fully into the Denver Art Scene.
I sold my bohemian furniture through every platform possible — also landing me a spotlight as an Etsy featured seller in its early heyday.
What we do at Vintage Renewal
Vintage Renewal creates radically redesigned furniture and specializes in deconstructed and restyled vintage furniture and home decor. It’s utterly beautiful chairs, loveseats, chaise lounges and bohemian home styling that are off-beat, one-of-a-kind and wildly inventive.
